Snow Day? Not for Home Schooled Kids

Columbia, SC (WLTX) -- School's been out for the last two days for most kids, but there are some who have still been learning while they're at home.

"I can't believe that a few flurries did this," high school senior Rebecca Tower says. It was more than a few flurries, but not enough Rebecca to have a snow day.

"Honestly you know I was disappointed because I still had to do my school work," she explains, and that's because she doesn't have to leave her bedroom to attend class.

"It's you know comfortable you get to be in your own environment you get to be at home in your pajamas you know doing your school work," Rebecca explains.

Rebecca logs on to Provost Academy for all of her regular subjects, and for her, this makes learning easier.

"It eliminates all the peer pressure and distractions you know from regular school like I just feel like this is better for me to get my work done," she says. She's still a fan of her program, even though the flexible schedule doesn't change for weather.

"I can go play out in the snow still and do my school work but you know that is the difference like everybody else is, hey I'm off I get to be home and I'm just like yeah, I'm doing school,"  Rebecca says.

The biggest culprit is someone closely related. "My mom, she's been rubbing it in my face ha ha I get a snow day, you know, I'm home."
